2020 has been quite the year! We are currently in the middle of a sixth mass extinction, and the news is full with stories of bushfires, wildfires and melting icecaps... oh, and there has also been a global pandemic!
At times like this, being an illustrator can feel somewhat pointless. It becomes even more disheartening when you start to question the tools that we use to talk about such horrors. Social media has become the de facto way for many creatives to communicate with an audience — but in doing so — they are unintentionally helping to support an industry that focuses primarily on manipulation, data-mining and surveillance capitalism. I don't have a solution to this problem. All I know is that the world is on fire...
